Paging all Continental travellers

Including the Chimayisti.
now. Any vehicle, any number of passengers, any time of year, any
|
Not quite /any/ vehicle unfortunately, otherwise my annual 'how to get
5 MVs to Switzerland' quandry would've just become much, much cheaper.
|
Well, I must go there at least 5 times a year. Can I take them
across serially for you?
(It's "quandary", by the way.)

length of journey, =A319 each way.
|
They're discriminating against MVs?
|
Only when they're surrounded by a large metal object called a van.
|
why don't you take the bikes on the ferry and hire a van in France?
|
We did look into that last year, but it all looked far too complicated.
For a start we'd need a van big enough for 5 bikes (very big &
expensive), 5 people and enough luggage for those people for 2 weeks.
Then there's the problem of getting the luggage/spare silencers etc
(for a trackday) to the ferry port. Hiring a van here & using a 3 bike
trailer worked out cheaper & a lot less hassle, once we finally found
one with a towbar.

Just booked my Chimay crossing (out 1410 on Friday 14 July, back 1655
on the 16th).
|
Anyone else contemplating another "dawn raid" on the Saturday morning?
|
Format as previous years for me: Trundle as far as Cambrai or thereabouts
on the Friday, leisurely bimble to Chimay on Sat, all the way home on
Monday.
|
Ah. No can do on Friday - last day for Half-Year returns.
Wotchoo going on, then? Beemer?
|
VFR. The Beemer is history:
|
Coo. Have I seen this VFR before, someplace?
|
|
Anyway, aren't you supposed to be in Africa?
|
Other stuff has intervened. Might be the Autumn now.

Worth pointing out that 14 July is, of course, Bastille Day, so
*everything* will be shut in France, and probably over the entire
weekend. Breakdowns are thus probably not a good idea.
