Who's done a round the coast of ireland tour?

OK, i know that several here have done either LEJOG or JOGLE but has anyone
gone round the coast of ireland at all?
Don't forget your fridge.
As mentioned up there Tony Hawkes wrote a book about hitch hiking
around Ireland with a fridge.
Surely you mean, dont forget your shovel?
I'll claim that as a whoosh then. Someone else gave the clue away up
"Don't forget your shovel if you want to go to work". Christy Moore
sings it. And I'm now earwormed.

there ^^^.
thats two then cos i have no idea at all :-/
Tony Hawks, I believe.
Did Dublin > Sligo > Mayo > Galway >Burren > Dublin last year with my
daughter. Did it as a 5 day trip with one of the deals in one of the bike
mags, 60 quid return I think for the two of us and the bike. Loved Mayo,
very pretty scenery, disappointed with Galway, found it too industrialised
for my tastes in place.

Burren was great in a moonscape way ... as are the cliffs of moher .. 650ft
vertical

Anywhere that you would specifically want to see or anything you'd wish
you'd done?
Walk across the Carrickarede rope bridge, near the Giant's Causeway.

Moher is well worth the effort, especially if you do the standard
climb over the edge and stand on the hidden ledge bit. Not that I'd do
that myself of course.

Wicklow is good fun, the road over the Wicklow Gap is a stormer with
exciting little bends leading onto narrow bridges where you almost
clip the bridge wall as you exit the bend.

Once back in Dublin took my daughter to see Riverdance at the Gaity Theatre.
I was expecting a bit of a dull evening but it was very good.

Hotels and bar B&B's we used were all very good standard and reasonably
priced.

Anywhere specific to avoid?
Dunno.

As long as I can take my fiddle, I dont care we go.
The Ring of Kerry. Especially on anything resembling a sportsbike.

Some of the worst tarmac I have ever had the mispleasure to ride a
Fireblade over.
*Ding*. V Good. Parknasilla hotel near Sneem is a top place for cream tea.
Taken a bike with longer travel suspension. Brilliant tarmac, but only
in 18" patches... the joins aren't too good... At least you won't go
through Fermoy (spelling?)... Avoid the north during the marching
season...
I suspect you've missed the whole point of Ireland...
heh, cnut :-)

You've obviously never been
Obviously not, I've got such an English surname...
You could make a slight change and call yourself Toomey.
It's a good Irish name and you could be an excellent Kenneth Toomey.
DOH! didn't clock that! So I should avoid wherever you grew up then?
Avoid Ireland.

The family used to holiday on Valentia Island - idyllic and almost
preternaturally laid back. Days spent sitting on the harbour, sailing,
shambling up the middle of the main street to the pub.

Probably been spoiled by the new bridge now.
I've not done a coastal tour, but have in my youf done a trip to all
the main towns in Ireland. I know the place isn't that big, but I
managed to string it out over a couple of weeks. Depends what you want
to see.
Plan is about 30 to 40 of us on scooters doing a trip over 7 to 10 days
Moher, then.

basically.

I don't think Dublin's a place to see anymore, but would just get
straight out there, into the sticks.
We're going as close to the coast as can i think is the provisional plan,
doubt we'll use dublin for anything other than the port.

I'd avoid Galway. But that's because I did something I shouldn't have
done and don't want to be caught there again. :-)
heh heh, I only hope that a priest wasn't involved!! :-)
There could have been. And a shotgun. ;-)
Galway
Achill Island ~ seemed to be full of pikey's
