First day of winter - call to action

Gentle villagers of RMD,
For one of us, today.. solstice plus one... marks a psychological "first
day of winter". Today will be shorter than yesterday, as the orbit of the
earth around the sun brings shorter and shorter... darker and darker...
colder and colder days. Clearly... the arrival of unrelenting snow fall is
more in front of us than behind us now.

It's 96-degrees here and didn't cool off last night until around
10:00PM - this isn 't working for me.

Cool of? You mean it is supposed to cool off after dark?

Solstice, his days grow in length. Equilibrium, ain't it great?

You make a wonderful point that I feel Kurt would appreciate. Tiago is a
solid 8 degrees south of the equator.. more than enough to recognize a
shift in the length of the day (with adequate instrumentation). It would be
nice if Tiago emailed him.. maybe they could be a support group to each
other? Remember, that even while Tiago's days are now growing longer that
he IS in the midst of the middle of winter.

annual depression beginning several weeks ago knowing that today the days
would soon grow shorter. Most years it takes until around noon time today.
It's a sad early start for Brother Kurt.

poor fella should i send flowers, or would that just remind him of the
spring that has long since past.

I do believe he is the same guy. He seems fine....... physically. Winter
weighs heavily on his thoughts most all the time. He has posted here and
there... I believe he's quite upset with me for dropping a self-titled
thread that was started to contain all the losers and miscreants in one
place.

I would encourage each of you to send a little...... encouraging........
message to our friend in the north. Try NOT to mention that the days are
growing shorter. Try NOT to refer to snow or darkness or day after day
after day after day sameness in any way. I don't want to explain in public,
but any mention of Lawrence Welk would also be bad. Let's try and keep that
shotgun out of his mouth a little longer this year. He has work he has to
do now, loading up on liquor and food and fuel for the generator and he
should not be left to struggle with his icy demons all alone.

i have plans for a still around here somewhere to make ethenole (for the
generator) should i scan it and send it before his fuel oil gels up.
