Musical recommedations

For once not from me. I've not bought any CDs for months and I fear HMV
will go out of business if I don't resume old habits.

Any recommendations for "must have" music in 2007?
Stanton Warriors : Stanton Sessions vol.2
Stanton Warriors : Fabriclive 30

Oh, and the CSS debut album, if you don't have this - it's a must
have.
New Rush. New Porcupine Tree. Soon to be released new Dream Theater.
I like this one. Can we keep him?
Only if the two of you promise to stay in the corner and keep quiet.
Heh. I nearly did a 'Look Phil, there's another one' post.

Add in the new Kaipa and a few other prog bits and I'm a happy man..
*Perk*

New Porcupine Tree? I just ripped my copy of On the Sunday of Life onto the
Fear of a Dark Planet.

It's good.

If you like that you might like Unitopia (just got it - less direct
than PTree but still good). I also got a CD by a band called Tinyfish
which is quite good.
Another band a bit like PT even down to the initials, is Pineapple
Thief. Great stuff.

Oh - and if you like complex heavy prog the new Kaipa (Angling
Feelings) is very very good. I think one of the speakers in the car has
just burnt out..
Ditto. And that's with an external amp. I was hoping that with more
power, blowing speakers would be a thing of the past.

I've had some recommendations from last.fm - haven't had time to check
them out yet. I've got most of them though. Adagio sound promising. I
dislike much prog metal but these guys sound pretty classy. As do
Masters of Reality. The stoner rock channel on last.fm puts out some
great stuff.

MP3 player. Good stuff!
Paying for music, there's a novelty
If some of us didn't, there wouldn't be any more produced for you and
your pikey ilk to rip off.
Are you sure about that?
It's an evening stood around the piano in your house, is it?
well ok, I pay £ 9.99 mnth so I retract my earlier statement
This might be worth a try:
747s "Zampano". You'll either love it or hate it, but they're mates of mine.
An album called Awekenings by a band called The Reasoning . Or the new
Within Temptation album, or Sirenia ... to be going on with.
I got the Arctic Monkeys new one with some MBNA reward points. I quite like
it.
Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High
Bright Eyes - Cassadaga
Could you give a bit of detail as to what "sort" of music those two are?

Only I'm looking for new stuff too ATM, so any recommendations welcomed.
If you need something to listen to just about any music, try

Yes its that russian download site, but their "iTunes" equivalent
software lets you listen to all of a track, or all of an album [1,2].

[1] Don't need any credit with them, don't need to download any tunes,
just use it for previewing music and then buy it elsewhere if you like.
[2] I've come across maybe 2 albums where they cut the songs off after
a minute, but 99% of stuff I've listened to was 100% complete.
Fall Out Boy - Bit like a cross between The Offspring/Maroon Five/Soul
Asylum - nice & melodic - good drummer

Bright Eyes - weird (ish) lyrics, varying styles, sort of middle America
a la Neil Young / Springsteen. All with a modern odd sounds in for free
type of production.
Cool, thanks.

That had better not be anything to do with James Last.
http://last.fm is good for this type of thing.
I've hardly bought any music at all this year, In fact only one CD,
which was a couple of days ago. I'm fairly sure you'd hate it so don't
consider it a recommendation: Nine inch nails - Year Zero.
There's a thing. I made my first 2007 order on Monday and that was
the first one in the basket. Followed by the new Manic Street
Oddly I can see it appealing to you, plus you've got the stereo for it,
it doesn't work as well quietly.. :o)

IIRC Paul's previous musical choices have always appeared melodic and
mainstream, so I'm not sure how he'd take to the industrial genre... Not
that that stops him giving it a go anyway.

Preachers album; the recent Kaiser Chiefs one, Floyd's Pulse on DVD
and Moseley Shoals by Ocean Colour Scene for Elly. That'll do me for
a while.
Speaking of which, if you like Floyd then consider seeing Aussie Pink
Floyd. They were in Portsmouth last week and the show was excellent,
with them performing mostly Dark side of the moon tracks, plus
comfortably numb, a little bit of the wall etc (actually a bit like
Pulse, but with some quieter tracks too). All the vocalists were
superb, the music was as close to Pink Floyd as you can get, and the
light show was very good too. Their web site has samples you can
download and listen to for comparison. The vocal on Great gig in the
sky was stunning...
nah, LCD Soundsystem's "Sound of Silver".
Oh yeah. Thought it was "OK".
Give Octopus by The Bees a go. I like it, anyway.
Yes, it's good stuff, as was "Free the Bees". If anyone has "Sunshine Hit
Me", the first album, a download to the gmail account would be greatly
appreciated. At the moment, I are also mostly enjoying Broken Social Scene
and Feist. The Cinematic Orchestra provide a jazz/ambient/indie background
to work.
as *everyone* knows, nothing worth buying has been released since 1972.
