ot: rear view mirror

I got into the jeep the other day and found the rear view mirror had
disappeared from it's normal place in the centre near the top of the
windscreen, and fallen underneath the passenger seat.
Yup - it's happened in our Voyager at least twice..

The mount on the window is a little patch of opaque whitish plastic,
and there's a corresponding bit of metal on the mirror. But neither
show even the slightest trace of glue or anything, so I've concluded
that the white patch on the window /is/ what's left of the glue.
It is.

What sort of glue should I buy to re-attach the mirror, i.e. that will
glue metal to glass (or to the existing patch of "glue")?
You can buy a glue patch from your Chrysler dealer - ours charged me
15p for the last one..
Are they like nicotine patches but for glue sniffers?
cool, ta.
Loctite 454 if you can track some down somewhere.

You can use that stuff for sticking planets back together.

Brilliant stuff, but dangerous in the wrong hands.
A man on the internet said that using the 'wrong' glue e.g. superglue
can cause the windscreen to crack 'cos of expanding and contracting
stuff. I've never seen it meself.
