Electronic tagging for bikes moves that one step closer

Scroll down a bit and you reach

"The DVLA is considering forcing all the UK's 1.3 million motorcycles
to be fitted with plates featuring electronic tags, which are
currently being trialled."

I've never responded well to force, (quiet in the cheap seats) they
will receive a considered FRO.
So the scheme will be voluntary then?
Hmm

Why would it be *such* a bad thing
It will help to track your every movement and any infringement of speed
limits at any time.
It might enable road charging.
I could go on but I won't.
Ahh, 'tis early.

Good points, well made.
Because with this they're just greasing you up for the next step. The
embarked GPS speed tracking device... Enjo-oy. ;-)
a) get rid of speed cameras
b) we all move to the IOM

Do they really think it a more complex number plate will not be cloned
in exactly the same way?

Anyway I think it's a planted story and part of a much more sinister
scheme associated with the ANPR tracking of all vehicle journeys.
I'm not sure why bikes are being singled out here.
Because we're an evil, law-breaking minority that has no place in a
safer and cleaner Britain.
Nor in the USA.
"It started at about 7 p.m. when a Prince George's County police officer
spotted a speeding motorcycle and positioned himself to stop it on the
inner loop, police said. The motorcycle rider swerved in front of a
civilian car and sped away, causing the officer's car to hit the
civilian's."

Sounds more like an argument for banning cops who can't drive properly.

Surely the far greater problem is cloned cars avoiding fines by automated
systems , and having dodgy plates on is of no use if you are stopped by
trafpol as a few basic checks will show something is wrong. Oh , wait ,
there are no trafpol left.....
