OT: Smoking Ban
I've received my employers information [or lack of] pack from HM Gov
but I can't seem to find out if there is a minimum distance smokers
have to be from the building.
Oh dear, that puts them on a railway line.
You have a railway line 2" from you?
"This railway line is very small, that one is far away"
I'm glad I haven't put my faith in you to produce
anything that requires measuring.
Does anyone know?
Does it mention if smoking disqualifies one from being a UK company Director
yet?
Looking to get struck off?
A slight deviation but it will make gigs easier.
Smoke free gigs in Wales now...
My sister's partner, who is a smoker, does gigs and he said it's much
better now and he's playing to bigger audiences. He thought his work would
be reduced.

Being struck off?
My mind was on another track.

I've been dealing with this under the Welsh legislation (came in 2 April)
for my company. There is no distance specified - only that smoking in
enclosed or substantially-enclosed areas (i.e. anything with a roof and more
than 50% perimeter walls) is forbidden. There is nothing in the Welsh regs
about smoking outside whatsoever. I would guess that the English regs will
be broadly similar.
Does that mean that anywhere that already has smoke holes with a roof
has to knock them down and buy new? That'll be a really good idea.
No, just remove enough of the sides to bring it to =< 50%. Sledgehammer, 10
minutes, done.
FWIW, my company is pretty relaxed about it, and our smokers are fine to
smoke anywhere outside as long as they don't block the fire exits. The call
centre next door (Govt agency) has insisted all their smokers go to the edge
of the car park away from the building - which means that the first any
visitor sees on entering the site is a load of adults on a grass verge,
hunched over their fags in the wind and rain, like naughty 14-year-olds.
Great impression.
