OT: Darts

There's been loads of this on TV recently. Is this actually exciting? To me
it looks like a place you'd want to euthanise most of the supporters. Still,
the girls are fairly rubbbish and a shame that our huge beer drinking
champion isn't in.
But is it really a spectator sport? Never been, just interested.
|
Sounds like you watch a lot more of it than you're letting on.
|
King looks like he has a double spliff before he goes out.
Still, they're all better at maths than me.
|
Not necessarily, just good and remembering patterns. When I used to play
[1] I just got to know that certain scores needed a certain set of dart
scores.
|
The blokes are far better at darts ... the last womens match .. I was unsure
whether one of them sneaked into the females .. scary looking thing.
Is it all chicken in the basket, loads of alcohol and testosterone?
Personally would prefer the dogs or banger racing.
|
Do you talk like this as well?
[1] When I were a lad, drinking lots and stuff[2].
[2] As you do when you're a bored teenager.

The current world champ Trina Gulliver plays in the Shears in Wantage, one
of the pubs we play [1] against in our local darts league.
Her "doubles" partner Claire Bywaters, who also played at the BDO thing on
the telly, was in my year at school.
Our team has organised a trip to the the Premier League Darts in Reading
sometime soon, I can imagine it will end up with most of us being thrown out
for unruly conduct, so I'll let you know how much of a spectator sport it is
then.
[1] I say play ... which is a loose term, the Bell B team has a tendancy to
turn up, drink a lot, throw some arrows, drink a lot, eat some sarnies, and
then continue drinking.
