I shall be loafing on a beach in Sardinia.
Tough call.

It would be last minute Hotel/B&B/Homestay, a last minute call to Ash for
the Scout Hut, or last resort.... Camping.
Ferry is £160-170 return

I rather thought they had a monopoly on the route, or maybe it's just a
monopoly on Douglas harbour. 's a bit like "God made the highlands and the
Islands, and the Islands he gave to MacBrains"

It costs 38 euro to get a car from Naples to Palermo by ferry (and the
same back), which is a 10 hour boat ride. Even the rip-off tourist
prices charged by holiday companies were around 50 euro each way.

I can only assume that the route can bear higher traffic.

Plus you can get half decent Italian food & wine in the restaurant.
