ot (ish) vehicle trackers

ot: 'cos it's for a car.

I'm about to buy a car, and although the insurance premium isn't
particularly high, one of the conditions of insurance is that I get a
tracker fitted (the car already has an alarm/immobiliser from the
factory).
Try a different inswearance first would be my suggestion. I'm not
exactly a big fan of something that can be activated remotely without
anybody (including yourself) noticing that is has. Plus the yearly
subscription seems to be a tad extortionate, at least for the ones I
looked at when my current inswearance demanded that I'd get one
installed in the RX-7 I'm having built.

Anyone have any experience/recommendations for these? The prices don't
seem to vary too much for the actual units, but the subscriptions do,
and also the offered service. Some of them also offer upgrades to
double-up the functionality to also include GPS-based speed camera
warnings, this appeals a bit.
try a different insurance company ? Most wanted a tracker on mine but
Elephant didn't. Slightly higher premium but much cheaper overall.
