French Run: Route
According to Garmin's MapSource, to get from the Calais Ferry Terminal
to the Hotel in Dieppe I have to get on a ferry back to the UK, travel
through Dover, up the M20, get on a channel tunnel train back to France
then go down the A28/E402 to Dieppe.
Starting at either of the preset POIs for the Calais ferry terminal?
Version 6.12.2?
If I put Calais in as the starting point city it works as it should - 116
miles, 2:08 journey time - but it just doesn't work from the ferry terminal
on my installation.

Thanks Nick. I think SD and you are correct and both Garmin POIs for the
ferry terminal seem to to do the same thing. I re-did the route by clicking
on the D940 and that didn't take me across the channel again. (I hate
Mapsource).
I think I might pass on that route. Are there any must-do roads on the
way down or it best just to stick to the main road?
I know I can look at the map for wiggly bits but some wiggly bits can
be very good and others can be full of cars/villages/speed limits/etc.
and not be fun at all so I thought I'd ask.
IIRC the good wiggly bits are after Dieppe. But on spring/summer
week-ends they become wiggly bits with caravans and lose a lot of riding
interest (but great scenery between the caravans).
You must do the coast road (D940) from Calais, over Cap Gris Nez to
Boulogne, it's well worth it.
Escalles sounds vaguely familiar.
Ah - Cran d'escalles - a 1000m speed hill climb for cars in the 20s
(also a rally stage in the 50s)[1] and seemingly bikes in the 60s.
That sounds likely, the road down into Escalles is very steep with two very
sharp hairpins, great fun!
I can see them even on my 1:200000 scale map. I prefer my hairpins
uphill though.

Noted, thanks.
and stop off at wissant if you have ten minutes to spare and like
beaches.
And lunch in Boulogne, I'm thinking.
