End of season Endurance Race at Jurby
Me and my mate Keith McKay are racing in the traditionl Andreas Racing
end of season endurance race on the 8th October.
Anyone fancy coming over to help crew and/or marshal? I'll probably
drive up to Liverpool/Heysham and park the car and get a foot
passenger crossing, which should be reasonably cheap (around 30 quid
very very cheap accom (which may be of the floor space variety), so
all you'll really need is some walking around and beer money.
I'd be planning to go over either Fri evening or Sat morning, and
coming back on Sunday evening. Subject to ferries, of course.
So, who's up for a fun weekend away on the Isle of Man?
I'll be going if I can get the time off but having been to Jurby
airfield I know that fun it isn't.
Sounds like an idea. I'll mull it over this evening - transport not a
problem once on the island? (I'd be on four wheels, so the foot
passenger thing sounds like a goer). Got plenty of leave to use up, and
We'll be in the keeping of the marvellous Keith and Jan once there -
lifts too and from ferry and circuit, and walk to the pub.
nothing better to do...
I'm on the Heysham boat on Friday afternoon, coming back Monday
morning.
OK, I've asked about here for the Friday/Monday off.
Cool. Let me know when it's a definite, cos I'll have to sort you
some accom space in Ramsey.
Are they equipped for newbie marshals? My skills learn more towards
hanging around tyre walls in the rain than anything useful in the
garage, as I'm sure you're aware...
Andreas racing is fairly relaxed about the level of experience that
marshals have...
What are your start/end points? I'm looking at options for getting
to/from Heysham or Liverpool, and things are looking expensive [1]
enough that I might be better trying to cadge a lift for the most part.
Heysham out at 14:15, back at am.
[1] Car's thirsty, trains to Liverpool in the morning are ludicrously
expensive.
You are of course welcome to hitch a lift in my car if you can get
yourself to Cheltenham.
Job's a good'un. I'll let you know soonest.
Right, it's a goer. 14:15 out on the 6th, 08:45 back on the 9th, and
I'll take you up on the lift offer. Time to dig out my wet-weather
clothing. Owt else I need to know?
You prolly need to know when I'm leaving Cheltenham. In fact, you
might want to come down on the Thursday evening. And I'd better send
May not be a bad idea. Bung me an address or something. Am I going to
need a sleeping bag for any of this, or just a raincoat, galoshes and
thermals?
an email to the Isle of Man to find you somewhere to sleep!
May not be a bad idea. Somewhere soundproofed would be good, lest I
sleep on my back and give Dodger a run for his money.
