Warm weather jacket

Sally Mea is serving Mint Juleps on the south lawn and you're all
invited. Enjoy. She also has the croquet setup.
Woo hoo! I just hope I don't get grass stains on my new white hoop
skirt. And it's *so* hard to play croquet while holding my
parasol...maybe some nice young man here will volunteer to assist me...?

The weather is turning warmer now and I'd like to give up the leather
for something more appropriate for warmer weather. I'd like something
that gives better protection than a T-shirt if I hit the pavement.
What kind of fabrics provide cool comfort while still giving you some
degree of abrasion resistance? Any suggestions on a Jacket for warmer
weather would be appreciated?
What Arie said!

[The perforated (mesh) jackets work 'marvelously' if you don't have a windshield.]

[[When it's 96*F and 96% Humidity, they are *still* uncomfortable... So, I didn't wear it
and that's when I went down.. ]]
I wear mine all summer long.
But I have a higher tolerance for heat than most folks.
That, and I don't ride an Ultra.

[[[Belive me T-shirts just don't cut it when you hit the pavement!]]]
Second that. I have the JR alter ego jacket - it's great. It's like
three jackets in one. I plan on getting the alter ego pants as well.
I've got a Marsee, it works very good and easy to pack.

the Daughter has A joe rocket (leather perforated) zippers seem to be
at best a POS

don;t waste any cash on fieldsheer they are junk.
I dunno. I just wanted a mint julep and to play croquet for a while. ;-)
I've had the Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket for several years now. It's
been through the washer a few times, so this year I bought the new $85
I'll second the Joe Rocket. Got mine cheap from an outfit called New
Enough (newenough.com no affiliation yada yada yada). Most of their
stuff is billy roadracer targeted, but I make it a habit to check out
their closeout section on a regular basis... most of the stuff that
billy roadracer doesn't want works just fine for me at half the price
.
New Enough is where I mail-order my stuff from once I know what size fits me.
I usually buy from local places, but unless the local place is having a
really good sale, I'll usually try stuff on that I'm interested in, and once
I get the model and size, I check New Enough to see if they have the same.
If they do, it's usually at a much better price (including shipping).

I just picked up a Joe Rocket jacket for dual-sporting on my KTM. It was
slightly over $100 (including shipping) at New Enough. Of course, the only
color they had that fit me was Yellow/Black, but at less than half of what it
would cost at a retail store, I don't really care.

HD mesh jacket in the new catalog which you prolly got in the mail.
It's the thin one that has Summer 2006 on the cover. Since HD doesn't
make mesh pants, I bought the Joe Rocket Phoenix pants and I'd swear
they were made in the same factory as the HD - the detail, color,
trim, all match. And the JR logos are minimal on the pants. Took the
shoulder and elbow pads out of the JR and stuck 'em in the HD jacket.

Better move quick, tho. Had to go to a couple HD shops to find one
still available in my size, and their the "one time buy" products that
apparently won't be carried again.
Try these people:

I have one of the jackets, and I like it. I've never been down on it. I
also have several pairs of the jeans.

Or, maybe one of their shirts under a regular denim jacket? I like denim
because I can soak it down at rest stops for a temporary cooling.

Or, perhaps a cooling vest? I know several people who have them and wear
them under their leather jackets.

nice alternative wear.
