OT : Camcorders with IS

I'm looking for a solid state camcorder that has image stabilisation,
something like this:-
but I need the IS to work on the video input.

Long shot but does anyone know one that does IS on video in?

Do you mean IS on the S-video/AV-In etc. input?

Yep.

I don't think anyone makes anything like that. Inputs are usually used
for mastering to the cam, and mastering doesn't require any sort of
stabilising.

Can you give an example of what you want to shoot to see if there are
other options?

"Black box" under seat connected to bullet cam on bike or in car,
"black box" on top of machinery connected to bullet cam pointed at
"intermittent problem area" of machine.

I suppose post-production software can do IS now, but I'd like it to be
done on the recording device.

Silly really, I've a good idea how software IS works and there's no
reason it couldn't be made to work on the video input very easily.

Nah, its only a cheapo setup we're looking for, to catch a fault with a
machine that isn't showing up in the trace logs. When we know what its
physically doing we will know which bits need changing.

Also want to use in in car and on bike.

I think a cheapo solution and post-processing where needed will do.

Also do these type of camcorders let you set them to cyclic recording
mode? That is they will record permanently, keeping say 2 hours on the
SD card and overwriting old video to record new.
