Should the word "Ho" be banned?
|
Would Don Imus still have his job:
If after the Duke University Lacrosse were players charges were dismissed,
he called her a "Nappy headed Ho"
instead of the Girl Basketball players?
Is it the context or usage of the Ho word that got Imus fired?
|

Ban Santa! It's all his fault for brainwashing the children with his

I believe the reference to them being "nappy headed" was more insulting to
black women and what really sparked all the outrage. The term applied to a

Interest that you believe that "nappy" is the more insulting term. One of my
10 month old granddaughter's favorite TIVO'ed shows is HBO Family "Happy to
Be Nappy"
The HBO Family show is based on the "Happy to Be Nappy" children's book by
Author Bell Hooks.
This review of the Book by the New York Times is quite interesting:
Quote from book about the Nappy headed Girlpie character:
"Girlpie hair smells clean and sweet is soft like cotton, flower petal
billowy soft, full of frizz and fuzz".
The Author Bell Hooks also wrote "Ain't I a Women"?
Called by Publishers Weekly one of the twenty most influential books in the
last twenty years.
Ms Hooks is renowned social critic, writer and feminist intellectual. Ms.
Hooks is also a distinguished professor of English at City College New York.

black woman is used to delineate between those black women who are desirable
and fit the ideal of a black woman and those with nappy hair who are closer
in appearance to ancestral blacks having come off the slave boats. Much like

I only watched about 5 minutes of the game. But I noticed that the Tn
players did look neater, better kept, more presentable, etc. A large
part of this was the way the Rutgers players fixed (or you could argue
didn't fix) their hair... IMO.
Btw - they looked much better (IMO) at the post Imus controversy press
conferences.

whites refer to the lower class among us as "trailer trash" or "rednecks"
only with even more of a pejorative connotation as to class distinction.
Nappy headed=ghetto, in da' hood. A ho can still be an attractive and/or
savvy business woman.

So, now there are going to be 2 "N" words we can't say?
Hank <~~~~will be more confused with our language
