Been a bit remiss.........The YZ490 guy

Hey there,

Took a look at the archive and I never answered a few posts. My
brother loves his XR650 so much that my other brother went out and got
one too. They are both uncorked now and are fantastic to ride in the
desert. The uncorking was done at the dealer and the bikes really came
alive afterwards. Lots of power everywhere. As for the size of the
bike, we are all over 6 feet tall and the 650 is a good fit for all of
us. If you have a XR650, get it uncorked, you will love it.

I am still racing the '83 YZ490 with SVRG/ARX and having a blast. I
finally managed a couple of holeshots last weekend out at Glen Helen.
I also got a chance to race the Adelanto GP this year and finished 65th
out of 121 in the 40+ Novice class against mostly new bikes (76th out
of 312 overall).

The YZ490 is looking a bit beat up after 6 months of riding/racing.

I am not going to be able to attend the Spodefest. I really wanted to
too. Does anybody ever ride down here in Southern California?

The bike bug managed to bite me pretty good this year. I went from one
not running bike to 3 not running and 1 running. Current non-running
bikes are 1990 KTM 125sx/mx, 1981 Maico 490, 1981 YZ465. The 465 is
next on the list since it is the most complete right now. I don't
think my wife had any idea what she was getting into when she surprised
me with the YZ490 last year. Got to love her though, she goes to all
of my races and helps me load and unload the truck!

Here are some pics from the last couple of races.

Thanks again for all of your knowledge and support over the years!
