OT - A3 scaffolding

Just around the M25 junction theres a pile of scaffolding going up either
side of the A3.
Theres an even bigger pile a couple of miles outside Tolworth with wires
strung across the road between the 2 scaffolding towers.
Whats that all about then?
As others have said: overhead cable work.

They've been doing it all over the place round here.
Faraday cage?
Probably a catch net to protect motorists from anything being dropped
(tools, people, high-voltage cables) while work is done on the overhead
cables.
They heard AndrewR was visiting.
Just in case anyone wants to see what Steve is on about, I took a photo when
Some sort of construction/maintenance work possibly?

trying to find out myself ..

I only saw the scaffolding, and not the big towering pylon behind it.

Steve, they're replacing the cables and will place netting across those
lower wires to catch any dropped wires.

My question is, how did they get those wires between the scaffolding across
the A3 in the first place. Big bow and arrow?
That's the ones. I'll stop worrying about new overhead cameras on gantrys
spoiling my ride to work then...
The cables were there before the A3.
No, the ones between the scaffolding.
