I've been sitting on this info since LAST September, but since last
Sunday was Scott's birthday I can finally share: SCOTT AND I ARE GOING
TO THE MXoN!!!!!
|
Cool. My buddy Bengt is flying to NYC, renting
a camper thing of some sort, and we're camping the
weekend at the track. I should arrive Thursday
late. Look us up.
|
Love to, Mike. How might I find you? We'll have to make "arrangements".

|
Go fast. Take chances.
Mike S.

|
And here I was hoping he'd be excited about the gift *we* got him,
dammit!
|
Oh, he was. He's wanted those bleed valves ever since he first
realized what they were on your bike. He installed them the first
thing Monday after school. He's pretty jazzed about the cool float
bowl drain plug wrench, too. I'd never seen one of those either, would
|
what is it?
|
One of these:
Apparently, it'll allow you to drain a float bowl without loosening or
turning the carb.
Kinda cool, and it weighs about 5 grams.

have saved us a handful of minutes at the first enduro this season...
|
Hard to measure up to that one, that's for sure!
|
I wish we could have stuck to you budget.
Not even if we hitch hike there and back...

Last September Theresa let me know that she was looking at putting the
trip together for us after hearing some talk from me about the
upcoming race. She had called Budd's Creek and talked to Jonathan
Beasley several times before the race date was even officially
announced, and put together the whole package for us. By October 10th
last year we had flight, motel, and car reservations and tickets to
the race (our original tickets were numbers 0069 and 0070). Later on
Jonathan called her back to tell her they had put together a VIP
Superticket package and he was holding 2 for her if she wanted to
upgrade, which she did in spite of the rather staggering price of the
Superticket. Long story short, we're flying into DC on Thursday,
staying at the closest motel to the track (less than 8 miles to the
gate), living large with a catered VIP area overlooking the start, pit
access, and up front VIP parking, and flying home Monday. There is
also a high likelihood of a great deal of swag from the various
sponsors and vendors.
I couldn't share this with anyone before now due to the possibility of
a security leak and someone mentioning it to Scott (or him reading it
on RMD) before his birthday. Well, we DID tell Tami and Eric when we
were vacationing with them last month, but they were sworn to secrecy
and are very reliable.
There is something that some of you might be interested in: we
actually have rooms reserved at TWO motels that share a parking lot
(just in case one of them burned down or something). If one of y'all
is interested we can hook you up with a room for Thursday through
Sunday nights (or some portion of that time), and at about 1/3 of the
price that they went for after the race was announced, plus they are
the only rooms you're going to find withing 50 miles or more of the
track. I don't have the prices with me right now, but if someone's
interested let me know and we'll talk.
WOOO HOOOO!!!!
|
We're kicking it around, but it would just be a Sunday day trip
thing.
|
I was dreaming of a last minute trip last night but my Mom is having a hip
replaced on Thursday and I'd better just stay close to home. It's a great
track and the best MX race on the planet. Sorta one of those once in a
lifetime things. You should go.
|
Classic Devil on one shoulder, angel on the other.
Mom would rather I go to MXdN
|
Well, Dean, your Mother knows what's best for you...
Drop me a line if you're interested. If you just want to crash on the floor
in our room for a night or 2, that might be a possibility too. It'd be nice
to see you.

|
I mean, really, she's got two hips, right? There's only one MXdN.
Think about it.
We'd have to leave here around 3am, I'm guessing, but I know of a fair
number of people that might be heading up. Actually, I might just bag
the whole thing and go riding in Georgia.
Hmmmm.
Ride or stand 12 deep and try to catch a glimpse of RC every few
minutes...?...?...?
I used to go to Budds Creek in high school.
I like High Point better.
Beasley's an asshole.
Even if he did treat Tim decently.
|
|
|
|
|
I'll say...
Have a good time, you two!
|
Oh, I'm sure we will. It'll be even better if Dean listens to his Mom
and comes down, too. If we get to meet Sturd and Mr. Bo-beech too,
it's just icing on the cake.
Just as long as United Airlines doesn't screw us over, like they
usually do.
Tim H
|
Tim -
I'm interested! Zing me an e-mail at the address on the header and
we'll discuss it. I'm coming up regardless, even if I have to stay 2
hours away!
|
Bo-beeech!
Where the hell've you been?
