And speaking of torque specs...

Dear Jay,

The spec for the triple clamp allen-head bolts is 18 ft/lb in my GG owner's
book. I'm pretty sure that's too much. It just doesn't feel right. I hate
when that happens.
On my bikes, the top clamp gets torqued to 16 ft/lbs and bottom to 14
ft/lbs.

Well, I don't know one way or another, but if memory serves, my Honda
triple clamp bolts torque to something in that ballpark - I can't
remember if it's 12 or 20...I think it's 20. I just use the Zen
method these days anyhow. You really don't need all that much to keep
the forks from sliding around anyway.

I have heard, incidentally, that GG triple clamp bolts almost always
seize into the clamp, so use antiseize when you put them back
together.
Hi speaking of torque would you know what the head bolts on my 83
cr250r would be?

Probably about 19 ft/lbs.
