why all the stink about supermotos...

...when we've had TTs for years and years?

is supermoto the result of europe "discovering" TT-style racing?
I imagine that 9 out of 10 european motorcyclists have never even seen
TT-style motorcycle. I certainly haven't. So I don't think anyone's
discovered anything.

Supermoto was basically invented by the French, and there's no
accounting for them :-)
for the true inventor of Supermoto, though the name has
changed a few times.
So it was invented by a Brit. Well there you go.
A transplanted one. Southern California based one who had lots of ideas and
the biggest stage for them
bah, i think most of us who had enduro bikes have put streettires on them on
occasion. i did with a montesa cota 123 ages ago - changed the final
There was no organized race though, as far as I know.
The Superbikers was the first dirt/street motorcycle
race on a purpose built course. There were GPs,
run through the streets for part of the lap but really
a desert race. There were enduros which used streets
to connect up sections of the course But nothing that
really followed the format of Supermoto, that I'm
aware of.

Go fast. Take chances.

toothing, street tires etc... it's one of those things many people had done
before it was "invented"

define tt. there are plenty of tt competitions, i just think the definition
Define "tt"? We can't even define "hill".
Tourist Trophy?

is different.
Dirt and pavement, sorta' a blend of MX and Dirt Track that can be set up in
a parking lot, though in Euro they're lengthened considerably. I like 'um,
'sides Wardie needed a few more title's...(heh, he'll prolly be winnin' when
he's 50!)
