Manx Grand Prix
|
Hey, here's a novelty - a post on here about one of the regulars
actually going racing! I'm off to race in the Manx Grand Prix
|
Difference being you are in a "real race". Don't think anyone has any
interest in hearing the adventures of a novice club racer like myself.

tomorrow.

I've just inroduced myself to the wonderful world of blogging. I'll
try to keep this up to date while I'm away:
|
The full timetable is here :
say that I'm practising every evening from Satuday 19th to Sat 26th
with the exception of Sunday 20th.
I'm entered in the Junior, which is on the afternoon of Weds 30th, and
the Senior, on the afternoon of Fri 1st Sep.
practice session, and obviously race results after each race.
Bearing in mind that my fastest lap in 2004 (as a newcomer) was
105mph, my ambitions, in ascending order are:
- do a 108mph lap
- do a 110mph lap
- get a replica in the Junior (finish within 10% of the winners time,
which will probably require 4 laps of 108+ and a good pit stop).
I'm riding a GSX-R 600 K2. It's got a tuned motor in it, and on the
current stock pipe with race can has been dyno'd at 118bhp. I've got
a full race Micron system to try on it, which might liberate a couple
more bhp. It's also got a brand new Ohlins shock and Maxton re-valved
forks. It's basically the same spec as a friends Gixxer6 which my
mate Chris Foster rode to a fastest lap of 113mph at the TT this year.
Mind you, Chris is a lot more talented than I am.
See you all in a couple of weeks!

Good luck, be safe and have a blast.
Let us know how you do.
