For those who like an ordered workshop
I just got one of these storage cases from Maplin:
Incredibly useful for storing small components (fasteners, grommits,
brake fittings, etc etc), especially if you want to be able to grab
the whole lot and sling them in a van to go to a race meeting.
Good value at 15 quid, I think.
I picked up a sort of wall unit with lots of little drawers, that a
dealer was throwing out, so free. As you say, handy. I keep springs,
bolts, washers, electrical connectors, fuses, bulbs etc in there, all
sorted.
And (if you're anything like me in this regard) forget which tray/drawer you
put that very necessary "thing" you're searching for.
Until you trip over it the following week while you're putting a new one in
another tray/drawer for safekeeping.

That's what the floor's for.
Well, it would be, but I can't find the floor.
you can grab your whole floor and sling it in a van?
Old jam jars not good enough for you eh?
A very long way from being good enough.
A plastic box full of a mix of fasteners and broken glass is not
something you want in the back of your van at a race meeting.
A Dymo labeller is your friend here.
I've had one for years. I put it in a storage compartment though.......
But plastic coffee jars work well and it's akin to having a never ending
supply. Screw the lid to a piece of plywood the size of a briefcase and hang
the jar(s) underneath.
Then put some brackets in the hire van, so the 6ft plank of wood can be
removed from garage and placed in van. Perfick.
