FOAK: Website Hosting recommendations needed
|
Looking to set up a(nother) website for a club and am after recommendations
|
When I was looking to do a similar thing I came across this lot -
I used the live chat to ask some questions and got through pretty quickly
and everything was answered satisfactorily. There was a huge pause at one
point, so whether the staffing level was stretched I don't know.
I didn't go through with it, because the club haven't come up with the web
pages yet. Could be worth a look though.

from thee.
I have had a few sites before and have always used easily.co.uk and they
have always been good.
However, Im wondering if i really am right when i say to people "you get
what you pay for" and " I know they're a little dearer than others but
....."
So, is there really such a thing as a host that'll gimme 100mb of space, FTP
access, a website name, at least 5gb of bandwidth all for less than £20 a
year (ok excluding the webname) but that is also actually reasonably
reliable and ad free?
|
I was going to recommend hostmysite.com [1] until I saw the £20pa budget -
their base package starts at US$8.95 pcm.
Basically you gets what you pays for.
[1] I run three commercial sites with the above and have proved rock steady.

A couple of months ago I would have unhesitatingly recommended Purple Cloud,
but they've been having a bit of a nightmare of late. Apart from their
recent troubles, though, they've been excellent - and if you were only
hosting a website, rather than relying on them for email, even their recent
outages wouldn't have been a big deal, IMHO
|
Hmmmm, looks pretty good, think ill book mark them and have a comparison
with any others that the Font may recommend

I've told you before and I'll tell you again...
|
"We hire the best
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer"
"Our servers run on Linux"
:-)
Or you could come to me and get all of the above wishlist plus use of a
content management engine to play with for a few shekels more so your club
members can update their own website and you can move on to other stuff.

Come on then , spill ze beans?
