Who here's an AMA member?

Are you an AMA member? Why and how long?
I was gonna go to med school but I'm too squeamish.
Since 1971
Since 1966. Was required, to join an AMA club.
99% er, eh?
So that makes you a lifetime charter member.
That would be true.

...

How do you view the AMA? Necessary evil? Good group of good folks doing
Mostly good work, I think. Over the last 40 years, there's been the odd
bit they did/promoted/whatever that I disagreed with, but otherwise,
worthwhile, imo.

good work?
A combination of both. My major gripe is that they continue to act,
year after year, like a small, poorly run club. I've lost any hope it
will occur to them to get some real, professional, management. There
are some good people in the organization soldiering on, but they are
few and far between.

I'm a member, but pretty much just for the magazine.

nooooo, does it fly or perambulate on 2 wheels.
(anything more than 3 wheels is WRONG)

PS. I joined along with my son
I think they do more good than harm, and I have been a member for about
10 years. Their biggest failings are to be found in how they sanction,
oversee, and manage AMA racing. With regard to rider rights, they are
pretty vigilant, but can be hypocritical and weak-willed at times.

At any rate, be sure to take advantage of the perks now that you've
joined. Many hotels give discounts to AMA members, for one example.

Overall, a generally respectable organization. Congtrats on your new
membership.

Not a member...Was a member, quit because of the airfence controversy.
Still holding a grudge...
Which one? Not to be facetious but...the only two
I'd qualify to join are riddled with more strife,
hate, informed ignorance and just plain
pig-headedness than northern Ireland and the
middle east put together.
Let us know in 40 years how you feel... ;-)
OK, I'll get back with you then :)-
I'll be waitin'.

When i took the MSF course in April my Rider Coaches (Instructors) had
nothing good to say about the AMA. I didnt press them WHY they felt
that way. But they really had nothing good to say about them. I think i
remember something about them being "sell outs" but i really wouldnt
swear to it.
Inneresting. Back in the day (1991-2004) when I was an MSF instructor,
the organization frowned on instructor's offering editorial comment of
any nature in the classroom.
Maybe your instructor likes loud mufflers.
No, We actually had a "discussion" about that. they definatley were NOT
for loud mufflers.
