Thinking of trading....
|
Just finished reading a thorough review of the new 2008 Harley-
Davidson CVO Screaming Eagle Electra Glide Ultra Classic. It's got
plenty of the upgrades that I've already applied to my 2006 Street
Glide, plus a bunch of stuff that is NOT retrofittable to my bike,
stuff that I would dearly like to have. In order:
1. 6 gallon fuel tank
2. Brembo floating, non-integrated ABS brakes
3. integrated gps nav system
4. XM radio
5. heated seat
6. easier to clean wheels and less easily damaged fork legs
7. remote saddlebag/tour trunk locking and unlocking
About the only thing that I've added to my bike that is NOT on the
FLHTCUSE3 (great model designator, don'tcha think?) is the Tour Pak
spoiler with integrated LED tail light/brake light, the oil
temperature gauge, and the Progressive Suspension fork springs and
rear shocks. I can easily switch out the rear shocks and the oil temp
gauge, and I can acquire the fork springs and install them quite
easily. The spoiler would not work because the Ultra Classic has a
luggage rack on the Tour Pak lid.
The only real downside (other than the price, which is not really an
issue) is the lack of a nice, clean, plain looking single color paint
job. I would've liked the white & silver combo, but don't like the
design/pattern/striping of it. So it looks like the 105th anniversary
Copper & Black paint job is one I could live with.
Thinking hard about trading up......
|
Go for it.
|
I think there is a word for people like you and Calgary.....
|
Heh. I was think of "enabler." Believe it or not, I only learned
last Wednesday what your suggestion means. Hell, I would've just
drawn a complete blank if we'd had this conversation a week ago!
|
I had to look it up and after learning what it meant I got to
wondering how Mark knew!
|
|
I thought every schoolboy knew what a fluffer was?
|
I'm sure they do. You would not believe what a sheltered existence
I've lived.
|
|
|
But.... THANKS ANYWAY! ;-)
|
How else would I get to ride one?
Plus I think they should have solved the issue of the flywheel coming
off and detonating the motor by now.
|
What????
|
Don't worry, it probably won't happen on _your_ bike.
|
|
Oh. You hadn't heard about that. Never mind. Headed to the beach
for the weekend..

Well if you are anything like me, once I get to the stage where I have
done that much research the decision is pretty much made. Then it's
only a matter of finding the best deal.
Congrats on the new bike. (let me be the first. )

I just can't relate to the "price...not really an issue" part.
|
Neither could I have, at any other pointin my nearly 50 years on this
earth. Does this mean I have "arrived?"
|
I can't beleive you'd throw away that kind of money on a silly motorcycle!
But, whatever floats your boat (no pun intended). You'd be the talk of the
town! (Just say you won't get one in that horrible orange color, okay?)

I'm thinking of the $43,000.00 price tag.
|
They must be using a different pricing system out there in Fruit & Nut
land!
|
Well, I was close.
|
Wow! They are only asking list price for them ($35,000 for the one
you had in your pictures, and $35,500 for the 105th anniversary
special edition) here in the Washington, D.C. area, and they are
willing to deal on those prices.
I think there is an additional $200 charge for California Emissions,
but I have no idea where all the extra mark-up on your price tag comes
from!
