Upstate NY weather
|
Remember last week when I said the riding season was winding down and
everyone said "no, it's last a few more weeks" and "don't stop until
the snow flies" and "get an electric suit, you big wuss". Well, here's
the forecast:

I'm over just east of Rochester, and today I was out riding with a
friend from Louisiana who is up Nawth visiting his family in the
Ransomville area. He's got an '00 Super Glide with no fairing. Oh, and
he's 71 years old.

I was up in Glens Falls over Labor Day. I saw this guy, maybe 5'5" and
85 years old riding a new Goldwing with ,,, I don't know what they're
called, but thing "training wheel". I thought, Wow, how great is it
that he's still riding. Then he reached back to the clamshell and put
the oxygen hose into his nose before he put his helmet on. Then I
thought, I better get going quick so this guy is behind me.

EFFECT PRECIPITATION IS FORECAST TO CONTINUE THROUGH 4 PM, MAINLY
ACROSS NIAGARA, ORLEANS, THE NORTHERN TWO THIRDS OF ERIE COUNTY,
AND WESTERN GENESEE COUNTY. YOU CAN EXPECT A MIXED BAG OF
PRECIPITATION IN THIS BAND, THAT MAY CONSIST OF COMBINATIONS OF,
OR OF ALL, RAIN, SNOW, SLEET, AND OR HAIL. THE SNOW, HAIL AND SLEET
ARE LIKELY TO CREATE SOME MINOR ACCUMULATIONS, ESPECIALLY ON
GRASSY SURFACES. A RUMBLE OF THUNDER IS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION
FOR SOME SPOTS WITHIN THIS BAND. BE ON THE ALERT FOR VISIBILITY
REDUCED AT TIMES TO 1/4 OF A MILE OR LESS, PONDING ON ROADS, AND
SLIPPERY CONDITIONS THAT MAY DEVELOP ON ANY UNTREATED SURFACES.
ELSEWHERE, WHILE MOST LOCATIONS ARE LIKELY TO REMAIN RAIN FREE, A
PASSING SHOWER CANNOT BE RULED OUT.
