another Happy New Year

From a west coast island far away.
And Happy New Year to you too.
"Who want's to spit in the cripple's food?"
Wotcha Marc!
Hey Dr Ivan! How's Brunel treating you?
Giving me the run-around at the moment -- seems no-one's ever
requested a promotion from RA1A before so they don't know what to do.
I've been boosted into the process for Academics so it's going to take
a year rather than a couple of months.

And to you Mark, nice to hear from you again.

Life here is... sedate. Quiet. Easy. Too easy.
Something horrible is about to happen. Any UKRMers planning
a trip sometime soon by any chance?
Hello Marc

My trip is already planned so I hope to be excluded from your soothsaying.
Heh

How's the degree going? On course for whatever they call a first over
there?
Pretty much. Although it's not exactly a 1st string institution,
I'm pretty happy with the quality of the instruction. I extended my
sentence by a year to take more senior courses, but then I need
to find a graduate school. Vague noises are being made about
coming back to the UK for that... very vague. More like stay
in Canada.
Mine has been "interesting" these last few years. One day I may write a
Soap....
And the same to you. Nice to see you're enjoying life over there.
It's not too bad. Another year as an undergrad then I'll be
moving on, assuming the family can agree where we go next.
Happy New Year to the Cannuck!
That's "pedantic canuck" to you, and it's only got 1 'n'. :-)

Not planning a trip over your way on '07, got too many trips planned
already! Perhaps '08..
At which point the family (me, partner, 2 cats, 1 dog) will
probably be ending our multi-year vacation and moving off the
island. Oh well.
Well, I'm not averse to trying anywhere, really ;o)

Except the Poles (North and South, that is, not the people from that
country). I don't like it when it gets too cold.

How's the knee doing nowadays?
As healed as it will ever be. They pulled a metre of titanium wire
out of it a couple years ago. Now it's just doing the slow
degeneration thing until I can't walk at all. Luckily, the knee
is degenerating more slowly than I, so I haven't really noticed.
There's a lot of good food, wine and beer here on the island...
well, there was when I got here anyway.
So, you've invited people over there to visit just before you leave for
other climes, and it looks like you just might have got rid of the good
food, wine and beer before we get there anyway...bleeding cheek! ;o)
Actually, they keep growing/brewing more. I just can't keep up!
Some where warm, sunny, child free, no Brits on tour in football strip,
SCUBA possibilities and the option of getting brown all over.
child free? yep.
no football strip? yep.
SCUBA? best temperate diving in the world, according to Cousteau before
he kicked off.

The rub?
Warm? You've got to be kidding.
Sunny? Not a chance. This is the Canadian west coast in winter.
Brown all over? Hardly. Even hard in summer, let alone now!

Guess we won't be seein' ye then.

Good luck though. Belize is nice apparently!
Second largest barrier reef in the world.
I've spoken to several divers who have been there and they rate the
place highly.
Take it from me, it's not.

We're on 24 hour stand bye if the right thing come up.
Bags are always packed.
Jabs are up to date etc.
Marc's local brewery is very good, *burp*.
Happy New Year island-type person.
Hi Marc, and a Happy New Year to you.
Glad to hear the knee healed as good as possible.

Rog tallbloke
I was going to go to Oz after Easter, but depending on how things
go next week that may change.
Sidney, Montana wouldn't be too bad. But, Sydney, Nova Scotia...
Actually, if you end up in Victoria... BC, I can provide a couple
beers as you wait for the next flight.
Line up a few cold Mooseheads.
