Finally chosen a company car....

Regulars may recall me beating my brow over the decision back in April,
ably assisted by UKRM and it's renowned ability to make any choice seem
less straightforward than you'd previously assumed. But I finally went for
a Golf TSi, which didn't turn up on the list until I was on the point of
selecting the 170 BHP 2.0 TDi.... I can't resist being in the vanguard of
new technology, particularly when I'm not paying for it.

So....what are the odds of this kind of arrangement appearing in two-
wheeled form? Diesels, even turbocharged, clearly don't work for bikes -
Dunno. I think as a super-tourer powerplant, a decent diesel would have
some merit. Think Gold Wing.

but is there anything that fundamentally rules out a 'twin-charged' 500 in
Hmm, my rather lovely Passat Tdi company car has now gone back.

For the next few months I'll be using the "car" [1] we acquired for my
daughter to learn to drive in when she's 17 [2] in November.

[1] Hyundai Accent. Look, it was free okay, and it starts, stops and mostly
does what a car should do.
[2]
From 1986 to 2003 a Passat (Turbo Sport) was the only non BMW I owned,
1998 to 2000. I rated it 9.5/10. I would be missing the Tdi too.
If the old company can attract you back perhaps a SEL 3.2 V6 250PS 6spd
DSG or the Sport 2.0 FSI ;o)
My Passat was one of the last of the old models, 130BHP with full leather
interior (the "Highline" model, named after the Austin Maxi HL I guess).
It's been one of the best cars I've had, not as good as the Volvo V70Tdi SE,
but certainly nicer than the Jaguar S Type.
What isn't

Now, the Hyundai is so spectacularly awful that it's actually fun to drive,
SOC can be fun too. Ask SteveH
Isn't there a number or something due to me?
Probably. If anyone actually knows who has which number....

IYSWIM.
I thought that DNC was still trying to find a good home for his Volvo.
Oooh, interesting technology.

Now, if they produce a 4.2l Quattro version of it, 510bhp, that should
be fun. Actually thats not that much more than the normal 4.2 (350bhp).

future?
