Fitting FXSTC rim on FXDL

A pint of yer favorite for all my air-cooled chums..

I'm picking up the '97 FXDL tomorrow. A local dude is selling the rims
from an '89 Softail Custom, and I'm interested in the rear wheel for
the LR but am not 100% sure it's a bolt-on. Called the local dealer &
their parts guy said the rear wheel should fit but I might have to swap
spacers. The tire on the rim now is an Avon Venom MT90B-16 (130/90). I
think the OE tire is a 150/80-16 so would I just swap tires to keep the
speedo accurate?
OE tire on both the '99 Softails and on the '97 FXDL is not 150 sized
tire. Both used a 130 from the factory. Someone may have modified your
Dyna if it has a 150..

The rims will interchange, but like the parts guy said, keep the
spacers and the sprocket from your Dyna wheel...'EVO Softail sprockets
are smaller than Dyna sprockets. Your Dyna belt won't tighten and your
belt guards wont fit.
Thanks Rayvan, you da man... I was going by the HD website which says
the FXDL has a 150-series rear tire, obviously that's changed since
'97. It had occured to me just to swap over the sprocket & brake rotor
onto the new rim, unless the rotor is the same diameter.

Someone mentioned Speedometer drive, but it isn't an issue. Both the
'97 Dyna and the '99 Sofails use electronic speedos. FL bikes are the
only H-D's to use cable driven speedos in these years.
The parts guy might be right. I don't think the hub width is different
between the two models, that being the case using the spacers from the FXDL
should be good.
The OEM rear tire for the FXDL was the 130/90, so you're good there too.

FWIW, the circumference of those two tires is nearly the same, so there
shouldn't be any difference in speedo readings.
Doesn't that model have a front wheel driven speedometer or is it
driven off the tranny?
