[OT] Plastics

So, I've recently retiled the bathroom, put in a new shower, and fitted
a new over-bath shower screen. The bathroom isn't square (more like a
slight rhombus...) and consequently the bath isn't butted up to the
wall fully - to cut a long story short I have had to attach the shower
screen vertically to a 5cm x 5cm batten which is fastened to the wall.

All fits perfectly, and the batten was carefully painted in primer,
undercoat and 10-year exterior gloss to keep it as waterproof as
possible. Fat lot of good that was - the shower screen seal seems
slightly sticky and is already lifting off the paint. I'll try
repainting it all again, but I'm not holding out much hope ...

"If only", I was thinking to myself yesterday, "this 5cm x 5cm x 150cm
(ish) batten was made of some kind of self-coloured white plastic. I'd
need to be able to drill it fairly easily to fix it to the wall, and
drill pilot holes for 4 screws to hold the shower screen in place.
Obviously the plastic would need to be soft enough to have stuff
screwed into it, but rigid enough not to bend every time I turn the
shower on to hot"
Click on 'catalogue' - 50mm square PVC box section from stock. If they
won't sell you one length let me know and I'll see if I can blag one.

So, what type of plastic should I be looking at for this sort of
application (i.e. "replacement for painted wood") and more to the point
Square section drain pipe, with a bit of wood inside if you need more
strength?

where can I get it?
I would've thought that PVC would be the way to go. Something like the
builder blokes use for soffits and fascia boards. It's what I used to "trim"
the garage after having a new roof fitted and as I didn't want to be forever
painting the trim, it needed to be (a) maintenance free, (b) waterproof, (c)
look half decent and able to take hooks to hang tools from. It did all that
and I got it from the builder bloke, but I'm sure he got it from somewhere
like B&Q or Wickes, maybe even Stax.

It's about 1/4 thick and 3 inches wide, if thats any help.
White square plastic drain pipe?
