2006 ISF Scholarship - May 10 Status

Wed May 10 status (9:30 AM PDT):

1. Both Fred & the Buckleys should be able to say for sure whether
they're coming by the end of the month. In the meantime, I'm trying to
line things up as best I can:

2. Transporting Fred's bike, riding gear, camping gear, etc.

On Thu Apr 6, Jim Cook posted:
Unless Jim & Jerry tell me otherwise, I'm counting on them to get
Fred's bike & gear to/from SF.

3. Where will Fred bunk:

On Wed Apr 5, Jeff Deeney posted:
Jeff - will you have a bunk for Fred?
I won't have plans finalized until the week before the event.
In my life, there's always the chance things will change between
now and then. I've got to pop the question to the wife
any day now. After traveling to the NW in the rig a few
weeks earlier, she may be eager to get rid of me for a week.
Still, it might be a good idea to have the bacon
grease soaked tent and meat sleeping bag as a backup
for Fred.

Plus, with gas prices being what they are, I'm very motivated
to figure out a way to haul a third bike & rider with me to
amortize fuel costs. If I bring a third rider, Fred would still have
an upper bunk to sleep in, or he could spoon with Wuds. :-o

4. Meals:

If/when Fred flies up it'll be enough for him to grab a cooler, ice,
beverages and snacks. So far the following have volunteered to provide
a meal each:

o Jeff Deeney
o Jeff Wallace

Could you two cover a breakfast/dinner each?
Anyone else willing to volunteer?
See above. There is usually plenty of food. If I'm there, I
would be thrilled to provide a couple of meals. I apologize
for not being more solid.

5. The Buckleys are checking whether they have all the camping gear
necessary. If they need anything, I'll be asking.

If folks want to volunteer meals for the Buckleys, I'll incorporate
that as well.

6. Keith - I think I speak for a lot of folks when I say we'd all like
to see you at Baumgartner.
Yeh sure, everybody's only there for the hot-tub, I know that.
I think that's one of the languages printed on our CA state ballots...

You posted on Apr 10:
You and Joe Rooney send me an estimate for how much extra it'd be for
you and Joe to come up in your truck and I'll find a way to fit it in
the scholarship budget.
I hope Keith can make it.

We don't stop riding because we get old, we get old because we stop riding.
