OT: Electric Tile Cutters
|
Need to cut some floor tiles but using the manual thing I have at the moment
I'm breaking the same amount I'm cutting! I see the likes of Argos and
Screwfix are selling electric table type cutters with a diamond circular
blade for about £30. It says they can cut curves but I can't see how this
could be with a circular disc?
|
I borrowed one to do some tiling in my kitchen last year (the first
time I've ever done such a job, and, I confidently predict, the last
time, too).
Anyway, this one had a circular disk in it, but it was fairly straight
forward to form curved edges by nibbling away triangles, as Burnt
suggests.
|
Markedly easier to fit a diamond blade to your jigsaw and use that to
cut curves.

|
Anyone bought a cheap DIY one they can recommend?
|
Got a B&Q special for about £25
Did the job - curves? - Cut angles then use it like a grinder
|
|
I bought a plasplugs (or similar) one about 2 years ago. It can cut,
limited, curves based on your cutting out triangles and then using it as
a grinding wheel. Good enough for my purposes.
I'd certainly recommend getting one of them to anyone doing a moderate
tiling job.

Having just finished the bathroom there's one in my attic you can borrow if
you're anywhere near Farnham.
If you're nowhere near Topps Tiles do one for £25 , which was perfectly
adequate.

About 250 mile round trip so buying one would be about the same price. I
appreciate the offer though.
