North Wales 'hooligan bikers'
|
"North Wales Police's chief constable has posted a video of "hooligan"
bikers on his web diary to highlight the problem of speeding."
The riders were both banned after speeding at 'almost 100mph'.
Take a look at the video - it doesn't seem that bad to me?
|
"undertaking on the hard shoulder"...?
Umm, where on that video does it show that? L1, yes - but the numpties they
were passing shouldn't have been sat in L2 anyway.
|
You need to watch the full version on his blog.
They do use the hard shoulder to overtake, plus some of the lane
splitting looks a bit iffy to me.
Of course, I'm sure no-one here has *ever* ridden like that.....
|
It was hardly hard shoulder, more like lane 1a, the rest looked pretty
tame.
|
|
The only bit I baulked at was the entering the hard shoulder to go
round the car towing the boat. Other than that I almost ended up
thinking the video was filmed in France or Italy, the amount of people
driving on the right.
|
They did take some chances. I thought going past the coach was a bit
iffy, too.
To be honest, although the car drivers were mostly in the wrong, you are
asking for a pull if the police witness you riding like that - nomatter
where in the country it happens.
However, they should also be making an example of the cars, too, for
incorrect lane discipline.

|
There were certainly a few cars just sat in lane 2 for no reason.
When was the last time any such waster of road space got pulled over?
|
"Lane 1 is for the poor".
I thought everyone knew that.
|
|
How many times have you been sat behind plod while he's been sat behind one
of those numpties? They occasionally flash the dickhead to move over, but
usually they just ... sit.
|
I was sat behind plod (I was in lane 1) who was behind an OLOC. Plod
swerved violently to the inside lane just as OLOC decided to do the same.
Cue blue lights...and me indicating to outside lane as they slowed :-)

I sometimes undertake multiple cars to get past lorries, more or less a
slower version of what these guys did. once I come up behind the lorry
I ( usually ) slow down if required and hope for a safe place to pull
out. I always thought that if your lane is moving faster then it's
not actually ilegal to go past on the inside, please correct me if I'm
wrong.. This clip nicely shows their excessive speed though, which is
a fair cop really aint it ?

|
Looks perfectly fine to me as well, I'd have done exactly the same in
the car, let alone on the bike.
|
|
Me neither. The did break one cardinal rule, tho - they got caught.

"Paul Knight, sales manager with motorcycle traders Bill Smith Motors
(Gwynedd) in Bangor added it was important to remember the video
featured the actions of two individuals "who would probably have been
doing the same thing if they had happened to be driving a car that day".
They were not the actions of "motorcyclists en masse". "
Well said Gus[1]
[1] Paul Knight is my best mate of over 25 years standing. He taught me
to wheelie, I taught him how to pull women. I was the better teacher.
