Replacing Old Tyres

I need to change my tyres, I currently have on F 120/70-zr17. R 150/70-zr17.

Would it be safe to replace them with 120/70-zr17 & 180/55-zr17
The rear rim is unlikely to be wide enough for a 180.
You also need to check that you have a couple of centimetres clearance
for the chain, hugger etc.
So basically no.
Or would it be OK to replace them with 110/70/17 & 150/70/17 ??
What bike?

Why would you want to do this?
Honda Deauville 650
Keep the tyres, change the bike.
I reckon it's usually best to stick to the standard sizes for the rim you're
putting the tyres on. Check the size of the rims (it'll say on the wheel
somewhere) and then web-search for a size comparison chart for tyres/rim sizes.

Putting an oversized tyre on a rim can actually reduce the size of the
contact patch between ground and tyre because it forces the tyre into a
shape it isn't designed for. It can also cause instability by producing a
small amount of undesirable flexibility in the tyre.

(Certainly that's what I've been told in the past)

If you want bigger tyres 'cos you want to look cool, better get a different
bike to the Deauville!

experience (although it isn't always right - best to double check the info
elsewhere if possible)

Hope this helps,
