Michelin Hi-Sports
|
The VFR could do with some new tyres imminently, and I *was* going to
stick with the usual selection of a BT010 front / BT020 rear.
However, I've seen a company advertising Hi-Sports TX15 front / TX25
rear for =A3118 delivered.
Are these any good, or would adopting a set of these invariably involve
me becoming on first name terms with the local paintshop / ambulance
crews?
TIA - any other recommendations for tyres for a VFR750FV gratefully
received.

I've recently had fitted a set of Azaro-STs, lovely they are.

When did Michelin stop making Hi-Sports?
Last time I bought old-stock tyres they were not very grippy.
Pilot Powers seem good on my lardy old bus.

My 1999 CBR600 came with Hi-Sports as OE. IIRC, when I needed new tyres
they were being phased out. I put a pair of sport touring Pirelli Dragon
GTS on to get me around Europe. Once these were worn out I don't think Hi-
sports were an option from my usual suppliers.
It's possible that Michelin still make Hi-sports for other markets[1] but
if they are old stock UK items then they could be 5 years old.
Either way, I'd stick with tyres that are made in Japan/EU and listed as
current on the UK version of a maker's website.

Cheers for the advice, chaps.
Think I'll be giving these a miss.

[1] not unusual, before Coopers took over Avon and reinstated the tyre, you
could still get Gripsters via unofficial importers. Made in S.America and
of variable quality apparently.
