Tyre specs on a Pan ST1300

A mate at work reckons the only tyre that's recommended on his Pan
Euro ST1300 (ABS) is the Dunlop D220ST.

He's had three punctures in a year so any thoughts as to other
manufacturers that make a suitable spec tyre?
All the UK Police and Ambulance ST1300's use bridgestone Battleaxe as
standard.
I don't think that frequency of punctures is in any way down to the
brand of tyre you use.
Don't some brands now come with a no-puncture guarantee?
Avon AV45/46 do.
it's not so much a guarantee as a refund policy. IIRC, they will give
you a new tyre if yours gets punctured within.... is it the first
millimetre of wear?

It's a canny policy, because it sounds good, and I think most
punctures, like the vast majority, occur when the tyre is bady worn.
I didn't mean to infer that the choice of tyre contributed to the
punctures. It was more that he's only got one choice and he commented
that it was getting pricey.

I suggested Avons which, as you say, have at least *some* refund
policy. One of his punctures was within 500 miles, so could possibly
have saved him 100 or so quid.
Make/manufacturer won't stop him getting punctures though will it? Tell him
to stop riding through builders yards.
