Black Blackbird - Got it :o)))

Blackbird was delivered today. Stood for several hours drooling over
it. Can't wait until Monday so I can get a new tyre.
Have fun.
Err, can't you just ride it, or is the tyre that bad? I'd have had it
booked in for an immediate trye (even on a Sunday)...

Please give me a fine day on Monday

Seller scuffed the screen getting it out of his shed, so gave me £50
back for a new one (very nice man), but it should buff out. Left
mirror bracket could do with replacing (but I was told that), chain
guard is MIA and it has had an armature respray, but nothing I can't
solve with Wet'n'dry and T-cut.
Depending on the scuff, I'm not sure. I remember Cane saying something
about screen plastics being very soft and it may not be possible to
remove the mark by buffing it out.
If you are tall (anything like 6ft) you'll probably want a bubble
screen anyway - £35 off Ebay and a few minutes to swap - mine was anyway.
Erm, I'm 6ft - well - I've shrunk a bit, so probably 5.11. Why would
anyone want a bubble screen? Everyone rants on about these things like
they were a fashion accesory. The standard screen points the wind at
one's chest and therefore doesn't make your head flap about like a mad
thing. It also means at lower speeds the weight is taken off the hands.

In goforit mode, you just put your chin on the tank and job's a good'un.
My practical experience, going to Paris a few times at speed is that
maintaining a high cruising speed was *much* better with the bubble
screen, and it's not that much of a bubble anyway (Powerbronze
screen). It depends on the year - post 2001 Blackbirds have a 30mm
taller screen.
I'll remember that ;o)

Nearest dealer looks to be in Morecambe. Do you think its worth taking
it there and getting them to check it over and give it a good service?
Does it have any service history? See previous threads about 16k
service being important (valve clearances etc), and has it had very
regular oil and filter changes? I can't see any previous post on your
purchase, what year/mileage is it?
