New UKRM Run - FNAR
Ok here goes...
I'm sort of interested in this if the weather's reasonable. 9.45's a
bit on the early side though and if I do come along I might not do the
whole trip.
BTW, we met at BOSM when a few of us did the run into Derbyshire on
Sunday morning. Would it be that sort of pace?
Yes I remember, you were on a Busa weren't you?
Similar sort of pace I would have thought although the roads are a bit
twistier in places. I'm going to run round it tomorrow and time it.
If you're heading this way, don't be a stranger/let me know.
I propose a new UKRM run for the residents of the frozen north [1]. The
Love to but that's the one weekend I'm very busy with 2 birthdays and a
trip to Southend to go to!
"fnar" Frozen North All comers Run takes in all the twistiest NSL and quick
sweeping "A" roads I know with the least cameras, it is a bit of mammoth run
at 157 miles but there is a halfway break at 75 miles for coffee or whatever
at Willingham Woods near Market Rasen. The run Starts and finishes in
Doncaster at J&S Accessories on Marshgate which should be handy for anyone
who forgot their earplugs/run out of chain lube etc. There is also a "Greasy
Joe" cafe for the ubiquitous bacon sarnie and cuppa.
Your definition of "Frozen North" is lacking somewhat...
I know I know... It doesn't go your way but it will do you good to come over
to the right side of the Pennines for once :o)
I don't think I could make Doncaster in less than 140 miles anyway.
It's the right side of the Ribble that I'm keeping on. :op
The inaugural run will be Sunday 15th July leaving Doncaster at 09:45
providing the weather isn't terrible.
The "fnar" will pass through the following towns/villages in this order just
to give those that fancy it an idea of where it goes:
Doncaster > Goole > Gainsborough > Market Rasen > Newark > Worksop >
I might be up for that in a few weeks, but I'll probably do the bit
above, then head back south via Chesterfield, Matlock & Wirskworth..
I Probably be more like 250 miles round trip for me though.
Doncaster
The exact route and roads I will keep to myself [2] for obvious reasons
I think I can safely say that if you still have any chicken strips left
after this run it will have taken you 6 hours to get round instead of 2 ½
Mail me or post on here if you are interested in coming along.
Interested - but the FJ is still at Kevs for some post-op TLC and an
MOT, which will include a new front tyre, so keeping up with you might
just test even the Champ school of running in technique.
I'll play when I'm able.
Ditto. So that'll be the next one rather than the this one.
[1] And anyone else who fancies warming up the edges of their tyres
[2] And anyone else from the group who wants to know - mail me for details
[3]
[3] If you have Autoroute I will mail you a .axe file of the exact route.
Is it Ok if i bring along a couple of 10r's & a few K3 Gixxers? One of
the blokes has a Hornet 900 too, he's quick, very quick?
I'm getting visions of another "Fazer Thou Mike" here.
Who's that then?
Heh. That said, I wouldn't mind meeting up with him again. He was a
pretty decent bloke.
Who was he?
A chap called Mike, who rode a fazer thou. He wheelied a fair bit, and
had an unforunate incident with a van at about eek mph. Didn't stop him
riding bikes though.
And then there was Zed Thou Phil, who vanished for entirely different
reasons.
Only met him once or twice. Seemed an alright bloke.
Did he offer to take pictures?
I'm no stunt monkey, I just want to improve my high speed riding.
