One tough rider
|
On Thursday at 7:10 PM, with the thermometer stuck at 107+F, a lone rider
pulled up to our gate, then came on in, pulled off his full-faced "black"
helmet and his black leather jacket... it was Lyle Gunderson, from Utah (and
reeky). He turned the jacket inside out and draped it over the back of our
porch chair, to let it "drip dry".
After some ice cold lemonade, we sat down to a dinner, which I had prepared:
brisket (bbq sauce on the side), potato salad, baked beans and lemon
meringue pie. We then visited until a little after midnight, then we called
it quits. Might still have been talking but Lyle's eyes kept slamming shut.
;)
I let Lyle sleep until 8:30 Friday morning and then the dog barked and woke
him up. We visited some more and I fed him fried bacon, eggs over easy,
toast with both home made peach preserves and grape jelly. We showed him

Dammit woman, you're now you're just messing with my mind for not
having stopped by on my way back east from Kalifornia last summer.
You can be that's one mistake I'll *NEVER* make again!
(Sheesh, I'm hungry.)

Hey, I offered. See what you missed? ;)
The offer is still open.

around the place a bit, visited a bit more, then he had to get back on the
road, to go visit with another friend. It was already 100F, when he left
just before noon. I've ridden in this heat and I'm fairly used to it but he
wasn't complaining. Lyle is one tough dude!
We certainly enjoyed his overnight stay with us and Lyle has promised
another visit, when the weather is more temperate (early Spring, or late
Fall). Joe and I are looking forward to that.
Have a safe trip home big guy. Our door is always open to you.
And thanks for bringing rain with you! It's not a draught buster but it
clouded up after you left, started raining at 5:15 PM and it's raining again
today. It's going to take a lot more to fill our stock tank but at least it
is a start and the cows sure appreciate it. :-)

Hey it's good to hear there are more IRL get togethers with riders
from Reeky.
Have a safe trip Lyle and thanks for always having your door open
Sunny.
