Ebay item 180031821417, made me laugh :)
|
Amusing, but...
What is it with this laughing thing. To laugh is to lose control. I
|
If I don't want to be sick, I can, almost always, grit my teeth and at
least make it to the bathroom. Similarly, if it's inappropriate to
laugh, then I can ensure that I don't. However, when in a relaxed,
social situation, laughter is the norm, so I laugh easily. I don't
*lose* control, I relax my control.
|
You lol more than any bloke I've ever met[1], so I can see why you're
battling your corner in this thread.
[1] Are you sure you didn't used to be a burd?

Laughing is a natural thing. It's got very little do to with losing
control (unless it's hysterical laughing).
FFS, even my 6mo daughter laughs when she's enjoying herself.
|
My wife laughs when..., oh never mind.
|
|
think I've been amused enough to lose control probably 3 or 4 times in
my life.
The daughter of a friend asked her mother the other day (about me)
"doesn't he ever laugh, Mum?" after a bloke made a not very funny
comment and all assembled laughed extremely falsely. Except me of course.
And yes, I do have orgasms.
|
To laugh is to lose control of what exactly?
|
The whole idea of laughter is to lose control. If it's not involuntary
it's forced. I just don't see the point in trying (often unsuccessfully)
to fake an uncontollable physical response for effect.
|
Never had to fake an orgasm then?
|
|
I don't see anything in the Oxford dictionary definition of "laugh" that
supports your view. I also don't see how it's possible to *lose* control of
a reflex action. Surely it's only possible to exert an unnatural control
over it or fake the reflex completely, either one of which is pretty
pointless imho?
|
"reflex action" according to my dictionary = "independent of the will,
caused as automatic response to nerve stimulation". ie; involuntary.
And yes, to fake it is pointless, as I said before.
|
Well that's exactly my point, how can you lose control of something you
never had control of in the first place? Therefore to laugh is not to lose
control.
|
A bit like sneezing then.
