I just removed the tank pad (protector) from the motorcycle because I

remaining glue and the tank is very smooth to touch right now. How can
I remove this very light yellow shade from the tank? I already tried

There's a wonderful thing called a Magic Eraser Sponge, sold by Lakeland.
Also sold by jml, and under the Flash name. It's worth trying; I got marks
off a cast iron bath with one, and also restored a laminate worktop. I'd
spilled silver solution on it, and it removed it a treat without marking
the work top.

You fear correctly too. Best you can hope for is 10 minutes with "T-cut" and
a prayer, but it's my guess you'll still have some stainage.
You could always hang a picture over it.

10cc of T-Cut should do it.

Not to worry, a new tank pad should cover it right up!

Sure all the adhesive is off. Sticky label remover is worth a try and if
all else fails lighter fuel (liquid !). Does sound as if it is more of a
permanent chemical change though.
