The cruiser is ready to tour

For those 3 or 4 people here in reeky who still care about motorcycle
stuff, just thought I'd post the results of my recent motorcycle
efforts.

Might remember I'd bought a Concours that didn't agree with me, and I
traded it in on a new '06 Honda Sabre. I typically add *some* amount of
luggage to my bikes, and the Sabre is no different.

I purchased a Memphis Shades Phats 15" shield, hard bags from
Seat (with rider backrest), a tank bag and floorboards (on order) and a
Garmin Quest/2 (also on order). That about sums up what I did, and the
details can be found here:
Nice scoot, though I prefer more streamlined bags on those 40's
inspired cruisers.

They match the bike's lines better.
For all the ridiculous money you can spend on some hard bags, I never
really thought them quite nice or... more importantly... big enough to
be "worth it". What I like most about the bags is the width. They're
not your typical 5 1/2 inch mini bags, or the curved-and-lose-space
like the National Cycle bags.
I like the NC bags, but if I had not got them used for $250.00 I
probably would have settled for something less visually appealing.

The design of the bags doesn't hamper my packing at all. Pack the bag
liners with clothes and stuff them in - took a week + trip with the
wife last year using the NC bags, a large tank Bag, and soft Tail
Pack. Had all our clothes - assortment of tools - couple of books -
extra gear - water bottles - 2 cameras - hair dryer and Curling iron -
and other stuff too numerous to mention. Everything was packed away
nicely. Course we had to ship a couple of large purchases home, but
that's no problem.

I'd considered buying the Harley Roadking bags, but at $1200... youch.

(enjoy!)
Well done there Chris. That is one nice looking ride, equipped for
those long days on the road.

The first *real* trip with the bike will be in a few weeks when I take
it down to Orlando on a family vacation, then duck out on them mid week
(I've really had my share of Mickey Mouse) and just ride, ride, ride
for a few days. Maybe visit some folks, maybe soak up the sun. Like
that.
Nice. Tough to wrong with a Honda. I love mine.

Ride safe. Be especially careful in Florida. I've found the drivers
there to be very aggressive.
