Shadow Spirit 1100 '05 - Gear changing noice

Hey Honda riders,

I just bought a '05 Shadow VT1100 with 900 miles on it. I have rode her
for about 300 miles since and have noticed that the gear changing is
quite loud. The gears seem to change a little rough. I am a first time
owner of a cruiser bike (owned sport bikes before), is this normal or
should I be concerned about the gear box?

Absolutely normal. I used to ride a '97 VT1100C Shadow, and was also
alarmed at what I thought was particularly klunky shifting (compared to
other bikes I'd owned).

Especially shifts from first to second and vice versa. The others aren't
quite so bad. Long time Shadow riders told me to simply ignore it and get
used to it, and that's what I did. Never had a bit of trouble with the
transmission or final drive.
