Clunks in new 6-speed?

I need the group's wisdom... I've recently
bought my second Harley, a '06 Dyna
(first HD was a '88 Sportster). The bike
is wonderful, except for a clunkiness in
the transmission. When the bike gets
hot, it's worse... you get a 'clunk' when
you shift, and another 'clunk' that sounds
exactly the same when you release the
clutch and load up the drivetrain... like
a double 'clunk', happens on lower gears
mostly. Sounds like gears slapping back
and forth on a shaft. (Bike has 1500 mi.).

The bike's been in the shop twice for it...
dude swears that it's normal, they said
they adjusted the clutch and had the
primary open. He mentioned something
about a 'compensator sprocket'... I have
no clue about this, not having the service
manual yet (it's coming). It was slightly
less clunky when I picked it up today...
I told the service manager that I'd ride it
for a few days and see. I don't like it clunky.

My Sporty was clunky enough, but it had
none of the driveline load clunk I'm getting here.
Supposedly the sixspeed recall's been done to it.
I can live with one clunk per shift, but not two!

Any comments or wisdom would be
highly appreciated... this dealer doesn't have
a stellar reputation around Central Texas, if
you know what I mean...
If you're not happy with what the dealer's telling you (and it sounds like
you're not), make a quick call to Milwaukee and bounce it off them. There
might be more going on then you're hearing.

That's the new million mile transmission Harley's been puttin' in their
bikes. You have to ride it about 75K miles by then it'll loosen up some
and get real smooth.
Get a few more opinions. It doesn't sound right to me, but I've not ridden
an '06. There are plenty of things in the primary that can fall off and lock
up the rear wheel, so check it out soon.
Thanks... I took it to the other dealer in town
this afternoon... learned some things:

The recall does not affect my bike. My bike
was made after the recall... supposedly, the
recall was done at the factory.

My six-speed is the loudest the mechanic
had ever heard... he hadn't heard the ones
done at the factory yet. He said it sounded
like last year's five-speed. Did they clunk
twice on each shift?

The recall replaced a neutral sensor and
a gear. Presumably the gear is narrower...
that's what it sounds like, anyway.

The second dealership said 'there's no cause
for alarm', etc. I don't like it like this, so the
next step is the corportate level. More later...
Talked to Corporate, got a reference number for
the dealership to use when they call the tech...
the service writer didn't blink an eye when I
mentioned reference number, btw. Turned in
my bike at 9am.

Called this afternoon... was told that they
followed the tech's instructions to the letter,
and were waiting for tomorrow (?!) to find
out whether the procedure met specification,
or whatever. I should have my bike back
tomorrow; final verdict then.
Got the bike back... seems to not be as bad,
we'll heat it up good and see. They did a bunch
of checks, found no differences between mine
and the current crop of Dynas. It *did* double-
clunk once while leaving the parking lot... that's
really what I'm worried about, I don't mind one
clunk per shift.

My last resort, and one that Corporate recommended,
was to have the regional rep drive my bike. His name
is Dave Grey and he comes through once or twice a
month... I'll catch him when I can.

Verdict: the new six-speeds are clunky after the
recall is performed... don't believe the Motorcylist
review. And I still love the bike.
