survey: what gear were you in, dude?
|
I'm looking at photos from Saturday and remembering saying "I think I hit it
in fourth once."
What percentage of the time do you know which gear you are in?
|
Yes it is... there are times when I can't tell the difference between
2nd and 3rd... until it's too late. Therefore, I like to know what gear
I'm in most of the time, but must confess that often I don't. :) I did
manage to hit a couple hills in the wrong gear at the last
harescramble. It cost me once as I wasn't able to recover quick enough
and had to go back down and hit it again... in the right gear.

I sort of ride in whatever gear feels right but I'm not usually aware of
which gear that might be.
That strategy probably is better suited to the woods than the track, I'm
thinkin'.

should I hit it in sixth?
|
When I need to shift down and there ain't no lower gears, I
assume I'm in first and probably ain't going fast enough.
When I'm flyin and there ain't no more up-shifts, I assume
Im in top gear... 4th, 5th or 6th, depending on how many
gears your bike has. Knowing what gear you're in while
riding is irrelevant, staying within the powerband is!!!
