OT: Mountain bikes again
What do the experts make of this?
I've got one, and I'd recommend it to just about anyone.
Ah. 410 euros. As you were.
I've no idea what year the one I've seen in the shop is, but it's priced
at 199 euros.
Never heard of that make, but it might be Spanish only.
But, at that price, it's likely to be fairly rubbish. Spend a bit
more and go for a known brand - that site lists Marin and Giant, both
of which are good.
In the tradition of recommending your own bikes I'll say I've got a Dawes
Galaxy and it's great.
Really? That's not the one I sold to darsy is it?
Indeed. A proletarian vehicle if ever I saw one.
It's not a mountain bike, it's a 10 speed racer with drop handlebars and
It's a tourer, you iggereant oik.
Yeah, I knew what you meant.
as every boy knows that's what you want to find under the Christmas tree.
Although in my case I found it in darsy's garage.
Oh, it clearly is. Nice to know it's still going strong. I got shot of
it when I got my Mercian road bike. I've still got the original owners
manual for it kicking about somewhere...
Sure, although it would only be of historical interest, containing
absolutely nothing in the way of useful information. ISTR that both
the gears and brakes were non-original by the time I got rid - I've
got the original centre-pull Weinmanns kicking around as well,
although I can't remember what I replaced them with. But you really
wouldn't want to refit them, trust me.
