Cut the blue wire?
|
Friend of a friend of a friend has an RF900. Friend seems to recall
that if you cut the blue wire going into the engine management box it
gets rid of the EU noise regs engineered flat spot. Much the same as
Bandits, I think.
Can anyone confirm or deny?

The word has come from elsewhere that it's the pink wire. So now that

information shall live on forever in Google.

Not as far as I know, and I never noticed a flat spot affecting my RF.
The Dynojet kit and race can may have alleviated it, but there's no
sign of a flattie on the dyno chart either.
|
Presumably the wire is from the gearbox and cutting it prevents the
ECU from using the first gear settings, i.e. rev limit and retarded
ignition. The dyno run may not have been done in first gear.
|
Sounds v similar to the V-Strom thing. Although that has three wires
that indicate which gear you're in, and AFAIK the ECU cuts power in the
first three gears so you have to fool it into thinking you're in 4th
all the time. (I think the ECU also tweaks 6th gear because its an
overdrive)
