Paging Nottingham Folks
|
Hi there everyone!
I'm spending quite a bit of time in Nottingham these days and it would be a
great help if anyone could recommend bike/accessories dealers to me.
I'm thinking along the lines of somewhere to take a bike for servicing (I'm
happy to do some stuff but don't have the time/mechanical competence/garage
to take on anything too major!) as well as somewhere that specialises in
parts/accessories.
|
I've always found Pidcocks pretty good for servicing but not cheap
unless you go mid winter when they offer discounts. Likewise I've used
CMC with no problems
|
I took the 9R in there last week for an MOT, very friendly and
efficient. I'd certainly recommend them.
|
I bought my current bike privately which came without a fitment
certificate for the alarm. Ins co wanted confirmation of fitment so I
took the bike up to CMC who did the checks and provided paperwork but
didn't charge me a penny. Impressed, I was.

|
The Bike Shop in Long Eaton are friendly and helpful and as others have
mentioned J&S keep probably the biggest range of clothing and they tend
to be cheap.
|
I've found the local Hein Gericke and they seem friendly enough but I'd
appreciate people suggesting other places to go to (or even places to avoid
like the plague!).
|
I was disappointed the only time I've tried them. I didn't buy anything
partly because they didn't have my size in stock, which considering I'm
'medium' is a bit poor.
|
|
Hein Gericke, for one, these days.
|
Really? When did that happen? It's generally been the case that they get
stroppy only when there's another reason to pull you over.
|
They've been sharper on it since it became part of the MOT, and with the
recent protests over noise and traffic in the peak district it's pretty
much a normal occurence to see people stopped for noisy exhausts in all
the usual places one would stop for a cuppa.
|
How many times were you stopped with the louder can?
|
The police have never commented on the Guzzi's exhausts; they're nothing
more than a pair of open megas that are really quite loud.
|
|
Not once, but there have been comments made when I've been parked up,
and that was enough to think it not worth the bother, especially as the
bike's still on standard jetting right now... So when I put the stock
can on for the MOT a month or so back, I just left it on.
|
I did that on the Blackbird for the MOT before last. I really must get
round to doing something with the fruity ones.
CBX, maybe ... or maybe not.
