FOAK...Bandit Exhaust
|
Looking at my GSX600F under the skin it looks very similar to a Bandit 600
so I was wondering if a 95 Akrapovic exhaust would fit my 90 GSF? Any
Ideas?
|
I assume you're talking about a full system rather than just the end
can. You'll lose the centre stand, but that's prolly all. As Suzuki
|
Oh yeah, forgot about the centre stand. Might not even lose that, if
you're lucky. I mean, Bindits have c/stands too, don't they?
|
B12s do, didn't think 600s did.
|
My old ('97) B6 certainly did have a centre stand.
|
Ok - fair enough - I've never ridden one, or in fact, looked at one
particularly closely. I just STR that when the Bandits came out (in
95?) one of the differences (apart from the obvious) between the 6 and
the 12 was that the larger bike had a centre stand and the smaller one
didn't. I could be misremembering, or they could have added the stand
to later models.
|
You are correct, the early Bandit 600 didn't have a centre stand nor
rear passenger grab rails. A year after they were released this was
rectified and all models had them. All the mounting points were fitted
ready to take a stand on the early ones.

only use two parts bins, I'd think pretty much anything from the
smaller bikes (the 600s) is interchangeable within the GSF/GSX/GSXR
ranges.
|
|
The engines are essentially the same, so things like exhaust manifold
centres and diameters ought to be identical.
You will almost certainly find that mounting brackets are different,
and you might need to modify a fairing panel or two, but if the
Akrapovic is cheap, go for it.

Cheers TOG. I knew I could rely on you for clarification.
