Corrosion
Due to a devestating combination of a leaking garage roof, laziness and
general apathy I find that my Z1000 has sufferred a bit in the past few
You should have left Champ's turbo where it was, under the drip.
That's not a nice thing to say about the Silvered Haired Lothario.
I expect better of you.
God knows why, but I do.
I don't know what else I can do for you. Look at all the things I've done
for you: Frankfurt, the Dnepr (with proper mechanical reverse), Drifter
aerobatics, the dustbin fairing and now the latest black monstrosity. I'm
effectively living out your fantasy life for you to enjoy vicariously,
without any of the discomfort, expense and broken bones. Is that not
enough?
Sad fact, you can't please all of the people all of the time...
Oh yes, it's plenty. And please don't think it's not appreciated.
And yet, and yet...
The best is, as ever, yet to come.

months.
In particular, the bolts on both front calipers are rather rusty.
Is there anything which can fairly easily and safely remove the rust or
would I do better to replace (or have replaced) all of the bolts?
Given the rather mucky state of any of your bikes whenever I've seen
them, I'd just take the bolts out, copperslip the threads, stick 'em
back in, then replace them when you sell it if it's worth doing.
The Tiger never really cared, though. It got grubby, sure, but when I
made the effort to clean the cack off it was fine underneath.
I always intended when I got the Zed that I'd keep it clean and generally
did, until I had problems with the Tiger and had to use it over a winter,
and then it had the garage problem. Now I've got a new TIger I want to
make a renewed effort to keep them both in somewhat better condition than
has been my habit.
There's also a minor problem with furring on the alloy hangers for the
exhausts/rear pegs. Not too bad after a good general clean, but not
perfect. Any good ideas for that, too? They're not polished.
Possibly not. I think the hangers are painted, so attempts to polish
them might just get rid of the paint :-(
That might be the case with the pikey 750 but the superior 1000 has large
lumps of naked alloy.
I've got some of that; I'll give it a try.
Car alloy wheel cleaner can help, otherwise solvol & elbow grease
followed by FS365 or whatever it's called.
How about just cleaning them up, then spraying on a thin layer of clear
lacquer?
When it comes to selling the clear lacquer will polish off in no time,
using a bit of T-cut.
